Show Us Your Life

This week's theme for Show Us Your Life is Kid's Activities.

I don't have a slew of ideas, but I do have a few!

Pre-schoolers and toddlers are sooo easily entertained that even the simplest, mundane things can keep them busy for EVER! {atleast, that's what it feels like for ME! haha!}

I also, like Kelly, get e-mails from http://www.productiveparenting.com/ and they ARE GREAT!

One activity that Productive Parenting recommended was so simple, I thought Charlotte would think it was stupid and not be interested in.  But, when I suggested it to her, she was sooo excited and we did it for over an hour!
Simple....Ready!?  Pouring water out of a jug into cups.
It does get wet...plenty wet.  So be prepared.  But she was thrilled to be "practicing" pouring! And, she actually did a great job.  The only time she really spilled any was when she poured the water BACK into the pitcher!
Audrey even wanted to help but..well, she was only about 14 months when we did this, so THAT was a little messier.  By the way, we did that on the porch.  { I am not THAT crazy to do it in my house...}

Charlotte loves to paint, so I try and keep little birdhouses, or ceramic figurines in stock in our home so she can paint.  SHE LOVES IT!

We also love to bake together, or even cook! She is a great little helper.

You can turn almost anything into an activity at this age!!

Reading time is a very special time in our home.  It has 2 designated times, nap and bedtime, but happens much more frequently throughout the day {mainly whenever one of the girls brings me a book...} and that can last for a while, too!

We work on color recognition and letter recognition by putting blocks in groups {by color} then we mix them together and put them in alphebetical order. This would also work well for numbers if you have something with numbers on them.

Audrey is a little more exploratory at this age, so she is not as able to SIT and learn something.  Although she will sit still and listen to a story! She loves books! If ever she is too quiet, I can find her in their room on a pile of books, reading.  And I literally mean ON a PILE of books!

Well,  I think that is all I can think of.  I actually forgot about SUYL until I saw Kelly's blog this morning!! WHOOPS.

Show Us Your Life...

Today's SUYL theme is Things you love:

So, here are a few of my favorite things.

My Husband.

My Girls.

My unborn baby.

Our Local Church.

My Sister.

This one stands for multiple favorites:

This country. {the way it USED to be, anyway}
The Flag.
The Marine Corps.

This picture also represents many favorites:
Musicals
NLHS Drama Club
Musicals @ NLHS
Being on stage.
This group of people!

The Aerie Inn Bed and Breakfast
Seriously the BEST.

LEG WARMERS!!

I also have many things that make me happy that I don't have pictures of.

Singing in the car,
Singing in church.
Singing in the shower.
Hearing a GOOD sermon at church.
Feeling the conviction of that sermon and getting things right with God.
Seeing Charlotte excited about going to church.
Knowing that we are going to raise our kids in a Christian home, unlike when I grew up.

Going to the beach with my husband.
Going ANYWHERE with my husband.
Taking my girls some place new for them. And watching them soak it all up.

Oh there is soo much, I could go on and on.....

Show Us Your Life....

Kelly at Kelly's Korner has a weekly blog theme, and asks that we participate if we like! And this week...I LIKE. Heh!
This week's theme is Show Us Your Charities!!
As Kelly stated in her post, her primary "charity" really isn't a "charity", and I agree, and our primary "charity" is our local church, too.
We are members of a "distincely Baptist" church. New Testament Baptist Church in Kinston NC.
We know that God has commanded His children to give back a portion of their earnings to Him. Besides, it all comes from Him to begin with. Tithing is such an important part of being Christian. Giving is love, and we love giving. We know that it is no sacrifice to give our 10% or more, because God always provides for our needs. Our needs have always been met and He even has given us a BUNCH of our wants!!
Here is a little bit about my family's "charity": Preaching is still primary at NTBC. We believe the Bible is God-breathed. We have conservative music. We are VERY missions minded. We only use the King James Version. Our children are trained in the Master Club ministry and our teens have a wonderful Youth ministry. We also have a Bible Institute for the adults. Weekly classes on books of the Bible, counselling, and even a class for our puppet ministry. If you would like to take a closer look at this local church, you can do so at http://www.ntbckinston.org/
Or you ask me!! If you live in the area or are visiting anytime, please drop in!! We would love to have you!!
Go over to Kelly's blog to see all the other great charities and even local churches, I'm sure!! http://www.kellyskornerblog.blogspot.com/ And if that link doesn't work...- have her button on my sidebar (Harper).

Show Us Your Life....

”Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner”

I have really missed being a part of this blog event! Every Friday, Kelly, from Kelly's Korner has a little get together on her blog! I LOVE it! This week, the theme is Christmas Tree decorations!

Last year and the years before, we decorated with silver and red. But, when I saw the blue and silver last year, I KNEW that's what I wanted to do this time. So, after Christmas, my husband went out and got all new christmas decorations for the tree!! (He is such a sweetie!!)

I now have glittery ones, striped ones, plain ones and ones with snowflakes on them! I love it! .

Also, we have some little cutesy ones from before :

{a gift to us after we got married}

{a puppy in a stocking from my childhood, my FAVORITE ornament!}

{krispy kreme}

 and many more : like a tree of SHOES! barbie ones, and of course, I Love Lucy! (a close 2nd favorite of mine! Ha!)

That is our Christmas tree! Next year, the girls will have their own tree in their room with some of my vintage barbie ornaments and others of their choosing. There really isn't anywhere to put a tree in their room this year.
I would like to get MORE decorations, I know I don't have has much as I want, but we have what we need!
We always try and shop for decorations AFTER Christmas.  Although, it is a lot of fun to browse through the decorations now!
